    Lewis & Seely Appraisals Inc. provides residential valuation services primarily in Angelina and Nacogdoches Counties, Texas, for a variety of clients including lending institutions, appraisal management companies, attorneys, and individuals. Our residential appraisers have many years of experience in the local market and provide a high-quality appraisal product delivered in a timely fashion.

    Lewis & Seely Appraisals Inc., and in particular Mr. Seely and Mr. Lewis, provides litigation support and expert testimony services to a wide variety of clients. Our services include valuation assignments on a wide range of complex issues such easements, eminent domain issues (including inverse condemnation), property divisions, bankruptcies, and divorce proceedings. We also offer litigation support in the area of review appraisal services.

  • Scott Seely, MAI, ARA


    Charles “Scott” Seely graduated from Texas A & M University with a B.S. Degree in Agricultural Economics and began his appraisal career with Texas General Land Office. Mr. Seely is one of the founding principal officers of Lewis & Seely Appraisals Inc., a full service appraisal firm based in Lufkin, Texas. He has appraised property in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Idaho, and Alaska.


    In 1979, Scott was awarded the Accredited Rural Appraiser (ARA) designation from the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) and in 1983, he was awarded the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute. He is also an AQB certified USPAP instructor and is a board member of The Appraisal Foundation’s Appraiser Qualifications Board. Scott has authored several appraisal courses and seminars and is a faculty member of the ASFMRA and the Appraisal Institute regularly instructing courses in real estate appraisal.


    Scott’s regular clients include lending institutions, government agencies, attorneys, as well as numerous private individuals. He has experience in appraisals and/or review appraisals for litigation purposes and has been qualified as an expert witness in County, District, and Federal courts.

  • Mark Lewis, ARA


    Mark A. Lewis has been engaged in real estate appraisal since 1984 beginning his career as a contract appraiser and now as co-owner of Lewis & Seely Appraisals Inc., a full service appraisal firm based in Lufkin, Texas. He has appraised property in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Alabama and holds resident and/or non-resident certifications in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.


    In 1999, Mark was awarded the Accredited Rural Appraiser (ARA) designation from the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA). He is also an AQB certified USPAP instructor. Mark has authored several appraisal courses and seminars and is a faculty member of the ASFMRA regularly instructing courses in real estate appraisal.

Lewis & Seely Appraisals Inc.

Lewis & Seely Appraisals Inc. was established in 1983 as a full service appraisal firm specializing in
commercial, residential, agricultural, and industrial properties. In 2011, its original name of Dickerson-Seely & Associates, Inc. was changed to better reflect the long-standing ownership and professional leadership of the business. The principals of the corporation are Charles S. “Scott” Seely, MAI, ARA; and Mark A. Lewis, ARA. Lewis & Seely Appraisals Inc. is headquartered in Lufkin, Texas, and provides appraisal services primarily in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Arizona, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Environmentally Sensitive Properties

Environmentally sensitive properties are a major portion of the agricultural properties which are appraised by our office and include marsh properties along the Gulf Coast, habitat preservation properties for endangered species such as the golden cheeked warbler and whooping crane, and habitat properties for waterfowl. We have been involved in the appraisal of several properties of National interest where the data search covered several states. We are active in the area of Conservation Easements. Conservation Easement appraisals have been performed for donation, acquisition, and eminent domain purposes.

Governmental Agencies

Governmental agencies include the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, National Park Service, Farm Service Agency, USDA - Rural Development (formerly known as FmHA), USDA - NRCS, U. S. Department of Justice, U.S. Forest Service, Texas Parks & Wildlife, and Texas General Land Office. Private concerns associated with these agencies include Nature Conservancy and Trust for Public Land.
